Artist Bios
Jacques-Armand Cardon (b. 1936) is a French illustrator and cartoonist. His satirical drawings have appeared in numerous publications and newspapers since the 1960's. L'EMPREINTE (Footprint) is his only film.
Jeff Carpenter (b. 1953) is an accomplished American painter and visual artist. Earning a BFA in Film at the Rhode Island School of Design, RAPID EYE MOVEMENTS was his thesis project.
Co-director Mary Lambert (b. 1951) is an American filmmaker and a prolific director of music videos, making several for Madonna in the 1980's and 90's. She is also recognized for her feature films, including Pet Sematary (1989).
James Duesing (b. 1958) is an animator and educator. Since the 1990's he has primarily focused on 3D computer animation.
The German twins Christoph & Wolfgang Lauenstein (b. 1962) combine classical puppet animation, claymation and computer animation to create their own unique style. Their film BALANCE won an "Academy Award" for best animated short.
Caroline Leaf (b. 1946) is a Canadian-American filmmaker, animator, director, tutor and artist. She has produced numerous short animated films and her work has been recognized worldwide. She is best known as one of the pioneering filmmakers at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), working there from 1972 to 1991.
Jan Švankmajer (b. 1934) is a legendary and highly influential Czech surrealist artist, animator and filmmaker active from the mid-1960's to the present day.
Dušan Vukotić (1927-1998) was a Yugoslav and Croatian animator of Montenegrin descent. He is the best known member of the Zagreb school of animated film and one of the original founders of the studio Zagreb Film in the early 1950's. He became the first European filmmaker to win an Academy Award for an animated short in 1961.
