Artist Bios

Jane Aaron (1948 - 2015) was an award winning filmmaker, author & illustrator. She produced numerous works for children, including more than 200 animated interludes for Sesame Street.

Ayoka Chenzira is an influential director/producer and long time advocate for independent filmmakers. In the mid 1980s, she formed Red Carnelian, a New-York based production and distribution company focusing on media productions depicting life and culture of African Americans.

Emily Hubley is the daughter of prolific animators John & Faith Hubley, whose films she periodically collaborated on. Since 1980, she has been releasing her own independent shorts and is perhaps most recognized for her animated sequences from Hedwig & The Angry Inch (2001).

Frances Leeming is a media artist and animator. Her performance and film projects explore the relationship between gender, technology and consumerism. She currently teaches Animation and Screen Writing in the Department of Film Studies at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario

Joanna Priestly is a graduate of Cal Arts and an independent animator based in Portland, Oregon. She has experimented with numerous techniques over several dozen shorts and still actively creates both 2D and 3D work.

Joanna Quinn co-founded Beryl Productions International Ltd. in 1987 and has made numerous narrative-based short films. Her distinctive drawing style is also recognizable from commercial advertising projects for Charmin toilet paper, Whiskas cat food and United Airlines.
