ANIMATED FRAMES - VOL.11: ALICE
Journey with us down the rabbit hole for a rare 16mm presentation of ALICE, a surreal and unsettling adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic by maverick Czech animator, Jan Švankmajer.
Through his signature style for the absurd and grotesque, Švankmajer crafts his own nightmarish vision for the tale amid a reliquary of decaying antiques and disheveled sentient taxidermy.
Preceding the feature are two ominous and claustrophobic short films, one an earlier work by Švankmajer, the other a mesmerizing abstract black and white animation rendered in lithographic crayon by Amy Kravitz.
